Wastepack Compliance Scheme Eliminates Paper- Based Processes Using Bespoke Software From LBT


The Wastepack Compliance scheme was one of the first set up in the UK during 1997 at the beginning of the Waste Packaging Regulations. As a registered and approved scheme, Wastepack takes on the legal obligations under the regulations of around 1,000 scheme members to achieve compliance on their behalf.

LBT has provided IT services to Wastepack for over 17 years and a bespoke business software solution with Associate at the core for more than 12. Wastepack is a rapidly changing, forward looking business, always keen to improve systems with regards the ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 accreditations. Initially implemented to help Wastepack eliminate paper-based processes, LBT regularly develops bespoke software add-ons for the Associate system enabling Wastepack to improve workflow and meet the changing needs of it’s business, often within tight deadlines that must be strictly adhered to.


Like many other SMEs, Wastepack needed to eliminate paper-based processes by implementing a business system that could run their day to day activities more efficiently. The Solution

Following an initial consultation, LBT recommended using Associate software as the core of a business system for Wastepack, with a number of bespoke software developments to tailor it to the unique requirements of the business. Since implementation, the system is used by all staff at Wastepack, recording all day to day workings and communications between customers and staff. All data including emails is held securely in one place and the system has been successfully integrated with the customer’s chosen accounts package.

Not only does the system help Wastepack to keep on top of all obligations of the members, the agencies and regulators that inspect the organisation have always been impressed by the way information is held and processed.
